Assault was racially aggravated

A man has been given a suspended jail sentence after a racially aggravated assault.

Glen Arnold Grant (45), whose address was given as care of an address in Dowsdale Bank in Crowland appeared before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on July 16 in relation to an incident in Spalding on September 2, 2019.

He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge of beating another man in an offence that was racially aggravated, but subsequently changed his plea to guilty.

He was given a 15-week prison sentence to be suspended for one year and attend appointments with a responsible officer in that year.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation, £150 costs and a £90.01 victim surcharge.
