A special art project celebrating inclusive education has been boosted with a cheque presentation.
The Priory School Art Project will see local artist Fiona Gurney create a large mosaic for display at the front of the school.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of implementation of law for education to include children with severe learning disabilities and Spalding Lions presented a £200 cheque to help the initiative to celebrate.
“The project has been a great way of bringing the school together to acknowledge and celebrate the inclusion of special educational needs. We look forward to unveiling the completed mosaic soon,” said Matthew Bloodworth-Flatt, headteacher.
Fiona will be the school’s ‘artist in residence’ to work with small groups of pupils who will learn art and design skills.
Everyone at the school will be asked to provide design ideas for the creation and help in the construction of the piece.
The mosaic, to be unveiled at a community event, will celebrate diversity and inclusion.
