Arrests after £1m village drugs bust

Police have charged a 47-year-old man after discovering £1m of drugs in a Whaplode St Catherine house.

A warrant was executed in Cranesgate North last Wednesday (29).
Specialist officers carried out a search of the property and located various equipment including pill presses, powders including Diazepam and anabolic steroids in a hidden room of the house, and an outside container at an address in Sutton St James.
Paul Tallo (47), of Cranesgate North, was arrested in the property in connection with this.
He was questioned and charged with supplying anabolic steroids, supplying Class C drugs, producing Class C drugs and producing anabolic steroids.
A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of two counts of possession of class C drugs, production of anabolic steroid and production of controlled C drugs. She has been released on bail.
“We acted on intelligence and carried out the warrant at the property. A vast number of pills were located, and these will be analysed in due course.
“While we are still working to establish the total amount of pills located, we expect the figure to be in the high thousands.
“Stopping the manufacture of these drugs has removed a significant risk to the public. Steroids sit in a legal grey area between a medicine and a banned recreational drug. As Class C substance they are illegal to sell or deal unless they are prescribed by a doctor for medical reasons,” said acting Det Sgt Helen Morris.
Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident 43 of November 30.
