Armed police arrest man on suspicion of kidnap

A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap during a joint operation which saw armed police in Whaplode St Catherine.

Officers from Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire Police worked together on the operation which included the use of a drone and specially-trained negotiatiors.

The incident started when officers responded to intelligence that a wanted suspect was in the Sutton Bridge area at around 3.15pm on Sunday.

This led to an address in Ravens Bank, Whaplode St Catherine, and at 9.40pm a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of seven offences. He is currently in custody.

The man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, criminal damage, escape from lawful custody, assault by beating of an emergency worker, offensive communication, and two incidents of ABH assault.

These offences all took place in Lincolnshire.
