Appeal by charity supporting South Holland homeless

A charity supporting homeless people in South Holland is appealing for help from businesses and members of the public.

The Forget Me Not Trust was set up by freemasons and is helping people in need in cities including London, Manchester and Peterborough.

One of the founders – Nathan McGowan – is running a branch of the trust from Lazy Acre caravan park in Holbeach St Johns.
Currently about six South Holland people are benefiting from somewhere to sleep and the chance to have a meal, shower and get their clothes washed.

Nathan, who hails from Lancashire, said: “There’s a bigger awareness of homelessness now.
“The charity has been very successful in Manchester and I’ve come here to try and help this area.
“We’re trying to put our charity on the map in Lincolnshire.”

Three times a week Nathan travels to The Brewery Tap car park in Peterborough to co-ordinate the handing out of hot meals and drinks. About 40 people are assisted and the number is rising as word of the good work of the charity spreads.

Forget Me Not is appealing for donations of food, clothes and personal hygiene products.
They can be dropped off at Lazy Acre in Little Dog Drove, Holbeach St Johns, PE12 8RR.
