A Conservative group opposed to Brexit will hold two events in South Holland.
European Movement Lincolnshire will host Conservative Group for Europe (CGE) president Kenneth Clarke MP for one of two planned events in its Explaining the Facts, Exposing the Myths, Exploring the Options series of meetings.
Dr Nicholas P George, a campaigns researcher for CGE, chair of the Free World Organisation and founding campaigns manager for European Movement Lincolnshire said he is a lifelong Conservative but when he moved to
Lincolnshire in 2016, “found a very different type of Conservatism being delivered in Lincolnshire.”
It is through his work with these groups he hopes to deliver an alternative opinion.
He said: “I have been able to secure two significant key speakers for the events to give a Conservative ‘Remain’ angle that will no doubt be a slight surprise locally.”
The first event is on April 20 at Holbeach WI Hall at 7.30pm. The key speaker will be Edward Bickham, a consultant in the international oil, gas and mining industries and former Special Advisor to Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd.
In Spalding on May 25, Kenneth Clarke will be the keynote speaker and will lead a panel discussion about Brexit.
Dr George said: “We would very much welcome the participation of all views, in order to stimulate healthy debate and get at the facts.
“This of course would include those of UKIP and indeed my party’s local Eurosceptic and ERG membership holding MPs.”
