Another fine win for in-form Moulton Harrox

Moulton Harrox’s impressive run of form continued on Saturday as they defeated another of the ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division’s title hopefuls.

A sole strike from Matt Barnett was enough to edge out high-flying Netherton United 1-0 at Broad Lane, just a week after defeating leaders Oakham United 2-0.

The victory moves Paul Kent’s side to within four points of their third-placed opponents ahead of Saturday’s trip to Thorney (2pm).

Moulton will be hoping that their impressive form continues, with a Lincs FA Junior Cup semi-final against Brumby looming on Saturday week.

On a day plagued by postponements, Crowland Town were the only other South Holland side in action in the top flight. However, the basement boys were beaten 3-1 at Sawtry despite Scott Dellaway’s strike.

The only Division One side in action were Sutton Bridge United, although their 2-0 triumph over hosts Crowland Town Reserves was in the Spalding Inter Services Cup.

The prolific Matt Eaton and Joseph Sutton grabbed the goals at Snowden Field.

Elsewhere, Tydd St Mary saw their hopes of lifting the PFA Junior Cup dashed by a 3-1 home loss against Ryhall United Reserves.

Michael Ocock grabbed the only goal for the Saints on the hour at Memorial Park.

In Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves roared to a fine 3-1 victory over Rutland DR at London Road.

Mark Garner, Shaun Murfitt and Matthew Wayman were the scorers for the Magpies.

It was a day to forget for Sutton Bridge United Reserves, though, as they slumped to a 9-0 home beating against Stanground Sports.

Jack Minchella and Dylan Warrener both hit hat-tricks for the rampant visitors.

p The matches involving Pinchbeck United and Holbeach United Reserves were among those to be ‘snowed off’ at the weekend. All tables and results are on page 38.
