Angling round-up: Big bream helps Pete win at Tydd Gote, plenty of perch for Holbeach’s Andy

Despite the wet and windy weather there were some impressive weights at the Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match at Main Road – with an average of over 9lb per angler.

Winner Pete Emery was on peg 30 and spent the first hour and a half on the feeder for a 4lb bream and some good skimmers on worm, before coming onto his pole lines to take a mainly skimmer net to single pinkie that totalled 17lb 6oz.

Andrew Kilby was second from peg 20, where he had a bonus 4lb tench on his pinkie rig along with some good skimmers for 14lb to pip Archie Greenwood’s mainly worm caught tench, big perch and skimmer net of 12lb from peg 26.

Steve Borrett was fourth from peg 12 with an all small fish net of skimmers and rudd for 11lb 5oz.

Wednesday Open (Main Road) result: 1st Mick Asker 10lb 12oz; 2nd Tony Carr 10lb 9oz; 3rd Colin Burton 8lb 14oz.

WINNER: Andy Shortland.
  • Andy Shortland picked up a win at the latest Holbeach and District Angling Club match on Sunday.

His net of 18lb 9oz, which included plenty of perch, was enough for a comfortable victory at the orchard section of the main Holland drain.

Chris Newton completed the top four with a solid total of 12lb 7oz in his net.
