Andy’s handy score enough for glory on John’s big day at Spalding Golf Club

An impressive 121 Spalding Golf Club members attended the traditional Captain’s Drive-In event on Saturday as John Camm began his stint as skipper.

It was Andy Rafferty who took first place in the 18-hole Stableford event, scoring an impressive 40 points to see off a strong field.

It was still very much captain Camm’s day, however, with the event well-supported by both team-mates and family.

His tee-off was 4pm and the golf was followed by a dinner and dance in the evening, which was well attended and enjoyed by all with good food and entertainment by the group Avalon.

The day raised £63 at the half way hut for the captain’s charity, which is Sue Ryder this year.

Camm said: “I would like to thank everyone for their support over the whole day which made it special.

“I am looking forward to my year as Captain of Spalding Golf Club.”

A Spalding statement added: “All the members of Spalding Golf Club would like to wish John all the very best in his year as club captain.”
