Amazing Sophie makes the cut

A Spalding schoolgirl has donated a fantastic 17 inches of hair to Little Princess Trust after years of growing it.

Sophie Callow (9), of Clumber Drive, went for her first haircut in years at Short Cuts Salon on Wednesday, where hairdresser Susan Patman cut it for free and even a man having his hair cut before her donated to her great cause.

Dad Matthew and mum Nicola were joined by grandparents Roger and Brenda Callow at the snip, along with Sophie’s brother, Jacob.

So far, Sophie has raised more than £620 for the cause, and has been giving to charity for the past five years, donating toys to Pilgrim Hospital’s children’s ward every Christmas after she contracted a rare skin condition, aged four, which was caught early and taken under control.

Wednesday’s haircut was an emotional event for mum and dad, who said they were “proud as punch” of their daughter.

Sophie wore a big grin throughout and said she felt “really good” after the cut.
