Almost £60,000 for MS Society thanks Lincolnshire Co-op fundraising in 2016

Nine months of fundraising this year by Lincolnshire Co-op staff members and customers has led to £59,201 being presented to MS Society.

The donation to the the society’s charity partner would pay for 150 home adaptations, which are essential for comfort and stability, 75 adapted cars and 275 short breaks.

Lincolnshire Co-op’s community engagement manager Sam Turner said: “From colleagues in our food stores teaming up to climb Snowdon to staff from head office completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, the hard work and effort everyone has shown this past year is really wonderful and I’m so pleased we’ve raised this fantastic amount.”

For Orange Friday earlier this year, staff wore brightly coloured tutus, tangerine wigs and painted their faces to raise £14,500 in just one day, thanks to the generosity of customers. Other fundraising events included raffles, bake sales and pin badges sold in stores.

All the funds raised will go to people in Lincolnshire directly affected by the neurological condition.

MS Society area fundraiser Caroline Kew said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the money that has been raised towards providing grants for people affected by multiple sclerosis in Lincolnshire.

“Thanks to Lincolnshire Co-op, this donation will make a real difference to people’s lives as well as raising awareness of what it means to have MS.”

A celebratory presentation took place with colleagues and supporters of MS Society and representatives from Lincolnshire Co-op.
