Allotment holders raise cash

A fireworks night and barbecue have raised more then £480 for charity.

The events were organised by a group of people who all hold allotments at Horseshoe Road in Spalding.

The money, £486 in total, has been donated to the Tulip Suite at Spalding’s Johnson Community Hospital – a cause supported by the group after one member’s wife was looked after there.

Margaret Harrison said: “We’ve got a nice little group and we all enjoy a get-together so we decided it was a good chance to raise some money.

“We have a raffle and usually get about 40-50 people come along.”
