All change as Tigers tear up table

What a month it has been for Holbeach United.

Callum Lawe’s young side sat bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League Division One table in the first week of September but they leave the month just two points off the play-off places after a four-match unbeaten run.

Goals from Josh Williams and Dan Roberts secured all three points in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over AFC Sudbury Reserves, despite missing injured captain Sam Carter and Kenzie Lee.

It came after the Tigers hit back from an interval 1-0 deficit at home to Whittlesey Athletic last Wednesday. Josh Williams’ 70th-minute strike secured a 1-1 draw.

Manager Lawe was thrilled with that display and said: “The lads showed great grit, determination and togetherness to make sure we came away from the match with something to show for our efforts.”

His team face a tough test of their talents on Saturday when they travel to a title-chasing Framlingham Town team, who suffered the first defeat of the campaign on Saturday when they lost to Whittlesey.

Tigers v Whittlesey: Sellars, Lee (Stephens), Carter (Hyde), Roberts, West, Oldham, Greenfield (O Williams), Millinson (Coelho, Hamilton, J Williams, Kacirek. Sub: Garner. Attendance: 84.
Tigers v Sudbury: Sellars, Hyde (Szablowski), Millinson (Garner), Roberts, West (Goult), Oldham, Coelho, O Williams (Greenfield), Hamilton, J Williams (Shenille), Kacirek.
