Ten brave fundraisers from Bakkavor Pizza in Holbeach took to the skies on September 17 to raise money for Little Miracles, the factory’s chosen charity of the year.
On Sunday, the team jumped out of an aircraft from 13,000 feet above Sibson Airfield, hurtling at speeds of over 120 miles per hour.
This event has been organised by Mandy Durrant – a thrill-seeking member of the site’s finance team – and nine other daredevils from the Bakkavor site.
Ahead of the charity sky dive, the ten courageous colleagues had smashed their goal of raising £1,000 – thanks to generous donations from colleagues, friends and family.
With £1,300 raised before the event, Bakkavor then stepped in and pledged a further £1,000 to support the team’s fundraising efforts.
it is part of Bakkavor Pizza’s 12-month programme to support the Holbeach branch of Little Miracles.
This local charity was chosen by Bakkavor colleagues as their charity of the year for its role supporting families who have children with an additional need, disability or life-limiting conditions.
Bakkavor colleagues have visited the Holbeach branch with food donations of pizza, fruit and cakes, and six large bags of cuddly toys.
Bakkavor colleagues also volunteered to support its family fun day at the Fun Farm in Weston and helped run numerous activities.
The renovation of Little Miracles’ new location in Holbeach was also supported by Bakkavor in several ways, including the purchase and donation of over 100 carpet floor tiles (and the glue needed), as well as 50 ceiling tiles.
Alison Savage, senior HR Business Partner at Bakkavor Pizza Holbeach, said: “We are delighted to see the important contributions our Holbeach team has made to support Little Miracles, a charity which is close to the hearts of many of our colleagues.
“This skydiving fundraiser showcases how dedicated our staff are to supporting the local community and, as a major employer in Holbeach, we are proud of how our colleagues’ hard work has made such a positive impact in the local area.”
