A shed load of recognition

Long Sutton Men’s Shed is up for a top award as is one of their volunteers.

It has been shortlisted for the Community Project of the Year for its new Youth Shed project, Shed of the Year and Frank Heinrich-Tiller for Volunteer of the Year in the Shed of the Year Awards.
The ceremony takes place at the House of Lords on May 23 and includes a reception celebrating ten years of the UK Men’s Sheds Association hosted by Paralympic legend Baroness Tanni Grey Thompson.
The chairman of UK Men’s Sheds Association said: “Each and every nomination this year deserved an award, however we had set criteria on how many we could receive and I am delighted that the Long Sutton Men’s Shed have been shortlisted.
“This Shed demonstrates everything that is great about Men’s Sheds and I very much look forward to meeting them in the Palace of Westminster.”
The Long Sutton Men’s Shed president Jack Tyrrell said: “It is a great honour to be recognised by our peers and the UK Men’s Sheds Association for our work in the community, especially our new Youth Shed project.”
The project aims to teach young people the basics of certain trades with the idea they may be inspired to take it up as a career.
