A shed load of love for show

A dance show that Long Sutton’s Mens Shed helped create was a huge success as it hosted a performance.

Shed Stories was created by Tim Casson and staged by his company Casson and Friends after he was inspired by his dad’s involvement in a Men’s Shed, created with the aim to alleviate loneliness.

It was created using interviews with people who took part, as well as at the Long Sutton Men’s Shed based at Silverwood Garden Centre also played at the Holbeach Hub, Tonic 44 in Surfleet and The Sessions House in Spalding.

Around 30 shedders turned up to the Long Sutton show.

The group’s Frank Heinrich-Teller said: “Tim and friends Matthew Winston and Deepraj Singh put on an amazingly powerful and brilliant performance.

“The show tells the storey of Men’s Sheds with humour and thoughtful moments, which all created an enjoyable experience.

“The show combines compelling movement with human, humorous and heartwarming tales of making sawdust, friends, and cups of tea.

“A good number of relevant case studies from Long Sutton members were woven into Shed Stories which clearly illustrates the many benefits to be gained by those who attended a Men’s Shed.

“There is a difference between working alone in your garden shed whereas a Men’s Shed is about social connections, friendships sharing skills and knowledge and of course a lot of laughter.”
