A record £5,653 raised at Gedney Hill Golf Club’s Daniel Markillie Memorial Day

The Daniel Markillie Memorial Day – Gedney Hill Golf Club’s biggest charity fundraiser of the year – broke records with an amazing £5,653 raised.

The event, held on Sunday, August 29, attracted around 130 golfers of varying abilities.

For a £2 donation Kerr Page (PGA Professional) and Joe Timms took the players’ first tee shot, resulting in some very happy players and some large points being scored on the first hole.

The record amount raised on the day includes £690 donated by the club captain and lady captain, which was raised on their joint Captains’ Day.

The charities who will be receiving a share of the funds raised are – Peterborough Breast Care Unit, Walk the Walk, Prostate UK and East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The overall winner on the day was Roz Upton.

Clarke Steel Trophy – 1st Adrian McGoldrick 40pts; 2nd Bryan Johnson 38pts; 3rd Rob Newns 36pts (ocb).

Seniors’ section: September Stableford – 1st Stuart Biggar 39pts (ocb); 2nd David Lord 39pts; 3rd Barry Hircock 38pts (ocb).

Ladies’ section: Golden Oldies – 1st Jayne Cowles 38pts (ocb); 2nd Maggie Bingham 38pts; 3rd Jackie Warlow 37pts.
