A match full of heart

Carter’s Park in Holbeach hosted a very special football match at the weekend.

Co-manager of Moulton Harrox Bobby Patterson worked with former players at Holbeach to raise money in memory of his mum, Margaret, who died suddenly in 2011 at the age of 60.

Bobby (35) said he had always wanted to do something in her memory and decided to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

He arranged a match between legends teams from Holbeach and Moulton Harrox which ended in victory for the boys in blue with a 5-2 win for Moulton.

“It was fantastic, there were just short of 200 through the gate which was brilliant,” he said.

“I am really grateful to everyone who turned out – it was humbling really,” he added.

The event raised £1,600 which took Bobby over his £2,500 target for running the London Marathon later this year for the charity.

The Harrox side, including Bobby, was mainly made uo of players from the Peterborough and District League treble in the 2012/3 season.

The Holbeach side included some familiar faces from the 2003 league-winning side and was managed by Dick Creasey, with Paul Crowson in charge of Harrox.
