Look after charity kitty for the cats

A local cat charity is looking to recruit a volunteer treasurer to oversee funds in the kitty and enable the charity to help even more cats.

The Spalding and the District branch of the Cats Protection League has helped thousands of animals every year for the last 20 years.

As well as finding new homes for unwanted and abandoned cats, the charity also offers cat care advice to the public and can help towards the cost of neutering.

The Spalding Voice is a distribution point for donations to the charity and has had a brilliant response after requests for donations made just after Christmas with plenty of readers bringing in food, bedding and toys.

Now they’re looking for someone to keep the books.

“The volunteer-run branch does a huge amount of work to help local cats but we really need someone to help us keep our finances in order to help us increase our work,” said Kay Wilding, Cats Protection’s Area Branch Development Manager.

“They don’t have to be a financial expert, as the charity can provide assistance and support materials, but we do need someone who cares about cats and has bags of enthusiasm. By sparing just a couple of hours a week it can make a huge difference to needy cats. It’s also a great way to make new friends.”
