Fund for teen who died when car crashed in to a home tops £4,500

Thousands of pounds has been raised to pay for the funeral of an 18-year-old who died when the car he was in hit a bungalow in Pinchbeck on Friday night.

The man has been named locally as Jaylee Waltham who was travelling in a black Vauxhall Astra which was involved in the incident on Northagte at around 8pm on Friday, January 24.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

It appears to have gone through a fence before hitting the corner of the home.

Tributes have been left outside the bungalow including boxing gloves, caffeine drinks and sweets.

Jaylee’s family and friends launched a Facebook appeal which, at the time of going to press on Wednesday, had seen around 200 people raise over £4,500 towards his funeral.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Jaylee’s brother David Morris, said: “On behalf of the family: ‘Thank you so much for all your kind words and donations, so much love all in one place and I know every single one of us are truly grateful for everything everyone has done and is still doing.

“So from all of our family once again we thank you with all of our hearts.

“Sweet dreams little bro.”

The fundraiser was posted by Jaylee’s aunt Lisa Henshaw.

She wrote: “My nephew Jaylee Waltham was tragically killed in a car accident Friday January 24.

“We want to give him the best send off we can. So we are kindly asking his family and friends for any donation possible to help give him the best send off possible.”

She later said: “Jaylee’s parents and family are absolutely overwhelmed from your support and donations.

“They can’t say thank you enough. I have had lots of messages to up the target again.

“So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

Among those also raising money are Spalding Town Football Club who described Jaylee as a “close friend” of the club.

In a statement they said: “Sadly on Friday the managers and players lost a close friend the least we could do for the family at this time is try and raise some money to give him the greatest send off possible.
