Department store makes administration warning

The owners of Beales Department Store, which has a prominant branch in Spalding, has warned that the company is facing administration.

The Market Place store is one of 22 across the country that employ around 1,000 staff nationwide.

Tony Brown, the chief exec told BBC Radio Four’s Today programme this morning: “As has been reported we fired an intention to appoint administrators last week.

“Principally what that allows us to do is to carry on working on restructuring to secure a profitable future for our business.”
