Can you bulk out charity’s gym?

Unused equipment is being sought by a charity looking to create a gym for recently re-homed people to use in Spalding.

Framework UK works to re-home those with nowhere to stay in the town.

They have 29 beds in South Holland, 15 in Holbeach and 14 in Spalding where those previously homeless stay for between nine and 12 months.
The charity says there’s currently a waiting list of 30 for those beds in the district.

During those months they work with the people to get them on a more sure footing and rehomed permanently through South Holland District Council.

Their latest initiative involves trying to set up a gym in the town for those that would not be able to afford such facilities with the aim of improving their mental health and wellbeing

The charity are currently looking to purchase a container or shed in the town to house the gym and have been boosted in that initiative by a £500 donation from the local St Godric’s Lodge of the Masons.

The charity will still have to kit the gym out though and they would like to receive any unwanted gym equipment people may have lying around.

The charity’s Rob Gibson, said: “Boredom and mental health are a major problem for our residents and we think this will make a massive difference.

“We’d love to receive any equipment that people have that they don’t need any more.

“We have a couple of people working with the charity who are already trainers willing to put these people through their paces who may not be able to afford to go to the gym personally and otherwise wouldn’t have anything to do.

“It should be incredibly beneficial for them.”
