Council to ‘look at options’ over Spalding car park charge rises

South Holland District Council has said that one part of its controversial parking price hike planned for January will be revised after a backlash from the public and traders.

Posting on social media on Tuesday night, a spokesman said: “Following feedback from local residents and businesses, SHDC is looking at options of how we can reduce the proposed increase to all-day parking prices in Spalding.”

The council has not given a time frame for further details.

However, Coun Gambba-Jones told BBC Look North that the change will be a reduction from a proposed all-day parking charge of £5 going down to £3.

As previously reported, the cost of all individual tickets in the town is set to rise by at least 67 per cent with the exception of The Sheep Market where the cost to park for an hour will rise by 25 per cent from 80p to £1.
