Club gets its key to the door

The November meeting of the Spalding and District U3A found members celebrating 21 years of their U3A.

Previous chairmen were invited to attend and were introduced to the current membership.

A birthday cake was served to more than 130 members and visitors towards the end of the afternoon.

Also at the meeting, Cambridgeshire author Sylvie Short gave a talk, which according to a spokesman, “had everyone laughing at very amusing observations she made during a cruise which provided material for her book It Rained in Bora Bora”.

“Her honest answers would be helpful to any budding writers amongst our members.”

The U3A gives anyone in their ‘third age’ the chance to pursue their interests and make new friends once they are retired or semi-retired.

Annual membership gives access to monthly meetings, outings and over 40 interest groups.
