LETTER: Maybe a weight limit would help?

I read with interest, Nigel Pepper’s letter on the trial at the A16 Radar Junction with James Road.

It seems that local people are now to be penalised with journeys that will take longer to reach Crowland and return, while people from outside the area will still be able to reach Peterborough and return without any inconvenience at all.

As a council tax payer in this area, this strikes me as ridiculous.

I have said many times before, that this junction is quite safe, it is the people that use it who are not.

I think a better solution would be to mount idiot cameras around the junction and anyone taking unnecessary risks could be ticketed.

This works well in London on box junctions and would not inconvenience local people wishing to get into Crowland.

The big problem with this junction is the amount of traffic from outside the area is far too great and also used by too many HGVs.

Perhaps the county council could put a weight limit on B1166 but this would be too much to ask.

Finally I would like to ask, who authorised this junction in the first place?

No doubt it was the same people who now think barriers are the solution. I rest my case.
