If you give two good anglers the two end pegs then the result is usually a forgone conclusion – and so it proved at this Sunday’s Tydd Gote Angling Club match on the North Level at Main Road.
Pete Emery was on peg 19 by the end of the rushes and made no mistake as he winkled out 7lb 2oz of mainly small skimmers and rudd with a handful of better roach to pinkie over groundbait and hemp.
Andrew Kilby was at the downstream end peg and found mainly small skimmers to his pinkie hookbait for 4lb 15oz.
Archie Greenwood on peg 28 took third spot with skimmers and roach for 3lb 3oz followed by Dennis Houghton on 2lb 1oz.
Wednesday Open Main Road result: 1st Colin Burton 7lb 14oz; 2nd Bob Bates 7lb 4oz; 3rd Martin Roper 5lb 11oz.
Thursday Evening Club Match: 1st Sammy McSpaddon 6lb 12oz; 2nd Colin Gibbons 5lb 12oz; 3rd Rob Wright 5lb.

- The Civil Service Old Boys fished at Kingsland Silver Fish lake last week.
And, although the top weights were impressive, overall it was a tough day.
Steve Borrett led the way with 93lb caught on bread and dog biscuits, with John Bartlett second on 63lb to his corn and pellet.
Roland Dean just edged Paul Barnes for third spot with 43lb 12oz to 40lb.
