Walking Hockey sessions are proving to be a big hit for Spalding

Spalding Hockey Club’s Walking Hockey sessions have got off to a great start.

Since the first session just after Easter, attendances have been around the 20 mark – with many making a return to the game after a break of several years.

The sessions are held on the all-weather pitch at Glen Park (Surfleet) on Wednesday mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Adults of all ages who consider that they would like to play the game at walking pace are welcome and sticks are provided if required.

There is a weekly charge of £5 per session to cover pitch hire and equipment costs.

The club’s original plan was to run a six-week introductory course with the hope of continuing afterwards. Such has been the enthusiasm from the group that these sessions will now continue weekly through the summer months.

Any newcomers to the group will be given tuition as necessary depending upon their previous experience.

The group is also looking forward to playing in the first-ever walking hockey mini tournament, which is to be held at Long Sutton Hockey Club on Saturday (10.30am).

Contact Fred Morris via email at [email protected] for further information, or just turn up at a session and introduce yourself.
