Two arrested after collision causes A16 closure

The A16 was closed for around five hours this morning (Monday February 4)  after a car collided with a bollard between Surfleet and Sutterton.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 34-year-old woman also arrested in connection with the incident which occurred at 2.52am.

There were no injuries, but the collision, which involved a Hyundai I40, closed the road for a considerable length of time.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “At 2.52am today, we received a report of a single car collision on the A16 Spalding Road, Surfleet. A Hyundai I40 had collided with a bollard.

“A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 34-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the RTC. Both remain in police custody.

“The road was re-opened at around 7.50am.”
