New Tommy stands tall in Holbeach cemetery

Thanks to the generosity of Holbeach residents and businesses there is a new ‘Tommy’ standing guard in the cemetery.

The second Tommy arrived after Remembrance Sunday and joins his comrade already in place at the grave of someone who died in World War I.

The silhouette outlines of soldiers from the era were sold by a charity organisation to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice this year.

They have been bought by various groups, councils and organisations around the country and are known as ‘there but not there’.

The pair of Holbeach Tommies will stand in the town’s cemetery. For more information, see www.therebutnotthere.org.uk
