Six girls from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club claimed an amazing 26 medals and a host of new personal best times at the 38th Robin Hood Open Meet.
In total, the Spalding-based club picked up seven gold, nine silver and ten bronze medals at the Sheffield event.
Day one started off positively, with a South Lincs clean sweep of the medals in the girls 14 years age group 200m Individual Medley (IM).
Ellisha Cookson led the charge, taking the gold medal in a new long course personal best (PB) time of 2.36.50mins.
Aurinija Maliauskaite took silver and Daisy Rummery the bronze, both in new PB times of 2.38.91mins and 2.39.95mins respectively.
Mollie Briggs then collected her first medal of the weekend, with a silver in the girls 13 years age group 50m butterfly. She took off in excess of a second over the sprint distance to stop the clock in a new PB time of 32.48secs.
Maliauskaite was back on the podium in the 100m freestyle with another PB time of 1.03.55mins to claim the silver medal in the 14 years age group. She continued her form with a third medal in the 200m breaststroke, where she took the bronze in a long course PB time of 3.07.41mins.
Cookson joined Maliauskaite on the podium with her second gold medal of the day. Her time of 2.58.18mins was the fastest time of the meet in this event and another new PB for the South Lincs swimmer.
Briggs produced a strong swim in the 100m butterfly in the girls 13 years age group with her second silver medal of the day and another PB time of 1.15.62mins.
Cookson also took bronze in the 14 years age group in a time of 1.15.94mins.
To close out the first day of competition, Rummery added a gold in the girls’ 14 years age group 200m backstroke to her personal haul with a new long course PB time of 2.38.2mins. She was followed home for the bronze medal by Maliauskaite, who also set a new PB time of 2.48.20mins.
The second day of competition started in the same fashion as day one, with a South Lincs clean sweep of the medals in the girls’ 14 years 400m freestyle.
Rummery took the gold in this event with a new PB time of 4.52.99mins and was followed home by Maliauskaite taking silver and Andre Ubaviciute bagging the bronze.
Briggs was also in action in the 400m freestyle and had a terrific battle with Rummery to take the gold in the 13 years age group in a new PB time of 4.51.47mins.
Saines collected her first medal of the weekend by taking bronze in the girls 14 years 50m backstroke in a long course PB time of 35.29secs, while Rummery took silver in 34.81secs.
Maliauskaite made it a sixth medal of the weekend by adding a further bronze to her growing collection in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1.28.21mins.
Next up was the 200m Butterfly, which is one of the toughest events in the pool. Briggs produced another excellent performance to sweep to the gold medal in the 13 years age group in a new long course PB clocking of 2.44.49mins.
Saines showed her prowess in the event by taking bronze in the 14 years age group in a time of 2.55.45mins. There were further medals in the girls’ 14 years age group 100m backstroke, with Rummery taking silver in a time of 1.15.37mins and Saines taking the bronze in a new long course PB time of 1.18.47mins.
There was then a seventh medal for Maliauskaite in the girls’ 50m breaststroke as she took the bronze in the 14 years group in another long course PB time of 40.12 secs.
However, it was in the final event of the meet that she topped the podium in her age group and claimed the gold medal in the 200m freestyle in a time of 2.21.10mins, just ahead of Rummery who took silver in a time of 2.22.14mins.
Briggs also took the silver medal in the 13 years age group with 2.22.53mins.
