European visitors welcomed

Spalding Round Table and Spalding 41 Club (a club made up of ex Round Table members) played host to the their opposite numbers from Spalding’s twin town Speyer, Germany, as part of a partnership going back many years.

The clubs meet up each year in Spalding and Speyer in alternate years.

More than 80 people of all ages took part and guests included the current Oberburgermeister (Mayor) of Speyer who himself is an ex Round Tabler and member of Speyer 41 Club.

The weekend featured a busy programme which included visits to Bateman’s Brewery, a trip on the Boston Belle, a ‘progressive dinner’ (with separate courses hosted by different people) and breakfast at the Welland Yacht club prior to departure.
