This Sunday (June 22) is International SUN-day and South Lincolnshire Astronomical and Geophysical Society is inviting members of the public to have a safe viewing of the sun at Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre in Weston.

Members of SoLAGS will be beside the main entrance with a selection of telescopes, and screens, and advice on how to view the sun safely. Looking at the sun without correct protection can destroy a person’s eyes.

Grant Woodman, of SoLAGS, said: “Although the sun is our closest star, most people just take it for granted.
“They do not stop to think that it is the single most important item in their lives.
“It radiates and bathes our planet in all the life giving forces we need to survive.”

SoLAGS is one of more than 100 clubs from 22 countries celebrating Internation SUN-day.
