Imagine somewhere beautiful, safe and unspoilt where you can walk, cycle, play, ride a train, fish, exercise the dog and explore endless meadows, lakes and woodland – all less than three miles from Peterborough’s busy city centre.
You’ll find all this and more – including cafes, hard-surfaced routes for wheelchair users, a busy events and activity programme and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation at Ferry Meadows.
Start your day out at the visitor centre and you will be able to find out everything you need to know as well as borrow a free children’s Discover Nature Pack.
Then try out one (or more) of the four downloadable Mobile Explorer trails, which bring to life the history, wildlife and landscape of Nene Park and the surrounding area.
Or let the train take the strain and explore the park from the comfort of the miniature railway.
But if you are more of an adrenaline junkie than a “strolling through the park” sort of person, the Nene Outdoor Centre may be more up your street.
Located at the spectacular Lakeside and with access to the beautiful Gunwade Lake, Nene Outdoors caters for many activities on and off the water.
This includes hire of kayaks, canoes, row boats and pedaloes, group activities such as raft building, land games and orienteering and structured courses in sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.
Nene Outdoors also encompasses Lakeside Sailing Club for the recreational sailor.
With a campsite and outdoor clothing and equipment shop Nene Outdoors has something for everyone.
