A Spalding woman who was driving with an alcohol level three times the permitted level, suffered from depression, a court has heard.
Mrs Kelly Mothers (40) of Hannam Boulevard admitted driving with excess alcohol when she appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.
Prosecuting, Paul Wood said that at 8.30pm on May 8, she was driving her Vauxhall Corsa when she was in collision with another car while she was on the wrong side of the road.
He said police were called and Mrs Mothers provided a positive breath test and was arrested, giving a reading of 105 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.
He said she told the police she had drunk just two glasses of red wine at a friend’s house.
Philippa Chatterton, mitigating, said Mrs Mothers had mental health issues and had been on medication for depression which had not been working and, on this day, had been using alcohol as medication.
She said she was now on the highest dose of medication she could have.
Mrs Mothers was banned from driving for 25 months but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 25 weeks.
She was also fined £665 and ordered to pay £151 in court costs and charges.
