South Holland parties for a royal wedding

South Holland was not left out of the royal wedding party at the weekend.

The marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have been in Windsor but, along with towns and villages around the country, there were parties across the district for everyone to enjoy.

In Holbeach, Coun Tracey Carter organised a patriotic celebration in the WI Hall and the packed venue proved how popular the idea was.

“Everyone wore their best clothes and it was really lovely,” she said.

“We had a lovely time and everyone enjoyed themselves. Tesco kindly provided juice and crisps.

“Thanks also to my sister Sharon Carter whose birthday it was, to mum Sandra Carter, Sue Taylor, Ashley Lovegrove, Lesley Fisher and Pavanotti.”

Holbeach ice cream company Laddies joined the fun with a specially created red, white and blue scoop to help beat the heat.

Bunting, cake and entertainment were part of the fun in Spalding for the royal wedding event at the Regent Hall.

In Spalding, the market traders displayed their patriotism on Saturday and the town’s brass band provided music to add to the celebrations.

There was also a special event in the town’s Majestic bingo hall where the wedding was screened for visitors.

There was also entertainment from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Bang On.

“It was a lovely event and I want to thank everyone who helped make it happen,” said organiser Jan Whitbourn.
