Four brave members of Tydd St Giles Golf Club are taking on the toughest test on the amateur scene – the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Golf Challenge.
The quartet of Mark Whittaker (captain), Malcolm Stead, Ian Edrupt and Neil John will take on 72 holes of golf in one day (June 22).
However, their task is being made even more difficult by the fact they will play each round at a different course.
And, as a final twist, each course will be in a different county – earning the Tydd men the nickname of ‘border hoppers’. They will starting at Sutton Bridge GC in Lincolnshire at around 4am, before moving onto their home course at Tydd St Giles (Cambridgeshire) then Feltwell (Norfolk), finishing at the Suffolk Golf Club before dark.
The lads are not alone in this task, as they will be helped by Gail Edrupt, Luke Stanford, Andy Morris, Paul Amos and Andy Jackson – who will attend the courses while the rounds are being played and raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.
