Golf round-up: Chandler tops the Stableford standings at Surfleet course

Martin Chandler was the overall winner of Spalding Golf Club’s December Stableford in the seniors’ section.

Amid a field of 69 players, a stellar score of 44 points was enough to give Chandler top spot in Division Two at the Surfleet course, with no other player able to match his tally.

Brian Killigrew (42 points) took second place in the second tier ahead of Graham Roach (41 points) and Peter Clare (40 points) in third and fourth respectively.

In Division One, Tony Jarvis was the clear winner with 43 points.

Johnny Goode edged Howard Greaves to take second place on countback after both managed a total of 39 points, with Shaun Gibson taking fourth on 37 points.

Tydd St Giles Golf Club

Vinny Day and James Hale-Smith were clear winners of Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s Stableford Pairs competition.

The pair scored 45 points to finish ahead of Dean Wright and Steve Smith (second) and Terry Alcock and Tim Hipkin (third) after both duos scored 42 points.
