Museum wins innovation nod

A tech-savvy Spalding heritage centre has won an innovation award.

Chain Bridge Forge at Hawthorn Bank is a working forge that mixes 16th century smithing with 21st century virtual reality and 3D printing techniques.

Owner Geoff Taylor (pictured above, far right) accepted the Award for Innovation at the East Midlands Regional Heritage Awards on Thursday, November 9. Geoff travelled to Nottingham Trent University for the event.
The award was given for the forge’s work in innovation to reach new audiences.

Projects include a virtual blacksmith system, 3D printing to create projects for the community and 3D virtual reality experiences that offer 360-degree simulations.

Its website, southhollandlife.com, is a local history resource.
