Denny Cup delight for Spalding Indoor Bowls Club in derby battle with Boston

A derby victory over Boston ensured that Spalding Indoor Bowls Club progressed in the Denny Cup on Saturday.

Spalding marched on in the national club knockout competition by beating their rivals 85-45 in a match played on a home and away basis.

They took the lead early on and never looked back, to set up a clash with Melton on Saturday, November 18.

In the ladies’ equivalent, the Yetton Trophy, opponents Carlton conceded and Spalding face Peterborough in the next round – which is also on November 18.

  • In the mixed Top Club competition, Spalding IBC travelled to Doncaster to face York on Sunday.

The neutral venue proved favourable to Spalding, as they won on four rinks to prevail 12-4 and will face Lincoln at home on January 7.

Rink scores: Ladies’ singles 13-11; men’s singles 15-10; mixed pairs 19-13; mixed triples 11-21; mixed fours 19-7.
