Lincolnshire Police suffered technical difficulties with their 999 and 101 phone line services on Monday, August 21.
The police took to Facebook to announce the problem, stating: “We have a number of call takers logged on and ready to receive incoming calls for both services but due to technical difficulties we are not up to full strength.”
The statement then urged callers to avoid calling the 101 service, set aside for reporting non-emergencies, until the issue was resolved.
A police spokesperson told The Voice that when there is a problem with 999 services, the calls are re-routed to neighbouring forces.
Lincolnshire Police later reported service had resumed. “Both services were restored to full working order around 11pm last night and a number of test calls have been carried out to ensure that the systems are fully operational.” No reason has been given for the outage.
