A woollen version of Spalding’s parish church is on display at Lincoln Cathedral.
It is one of seven marking the culmination of Woolly Spires, a county-wide project.
The exhibition features the church of St Mary and St Nicolas along with those from Boston, Sleaford, Louth, Grantham and Stow Minster – one representing each rural district in Lincolnshire.
Many of the county’s churches were built with the wealth of local farmers and fleeces from the iconic Lincoln Longwool have been used to create the unique look of the models.
Crafts from knitting to felting were used to achieve the finished models.
Each church was crafted in wood before teams of crafters created their masterpieces to slip over the model.
The project has been managed by North Kesteven District Council’s artsNK.
