Accountants aim to hit new heights in fundraising bid

A team of accountants from a Spalding firm have kick-started the company’s fundraising exploits by abseiling down one of the most extreme locations in England.

Eight colleagues from the Broad Street firm tackled the 250 foot high Orbit at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London to raise money for the Moore Thompson Charitable Fund CIO – the firm’s in-house charity.

Organised by two of the Fund’s trustees, Emma Wilson and Laura Grimer, the abseil saw Louise Feaviour, Julie Green, Kirsty Holmes, Hannah Watkins, James Walsham and Jordon Wingert swap their smart suits for a harness to enjoy fantastic views of the capital from one of its most unique viewpoints.

Having completed the challenge, Emma and Laura said: “We are delighted with the efforts of the team and, while it was fairly terrifying dangling from such a large London landmark, it was definitely worth it for the amount of money we have managed to raise.”

By taking part in the abseil, the team of colleagues managed to beat their original £800 goal, by raising £860 to date for their in-house charity, which itself supports a number of local causes each year.

Mark Hildred, managing partner at Moore Thompson, said: “Everyone at the firm is really proud of what the team has managed to achieve and we have been very impressed with their bravery.

“Last year we managed to raise around £3,000 for charity through events such as these and this year we look to be on our way to raising even more.”
