PGA pro Kerr settles for second despite record-equalling round at Gedney Hill

Robert Bye and Lynn Exley were the big winners at Gedney Hill Golf Club’s President’s Day event on Sunday.

A score of 43 points was enough 43 for Bye to fend off PGA professional Kerr Page (41 points) into second, despite Page shooting a record-equalling 65 nett.

John George also scored 41 points and completed the top three in the men’s section.

As for the women, Exley’s 39-point haul saw her take the honours ahead of Kim Markillie (36 points) and Jackie Rust (33 points) in second and third respectively.

Club President Jim Starbuck made the trophy presentations.

Other men’s section results: July Medal – 1st Craig Johnson 67 nett (ocb); 2nd Andy Brereton 67; 3rd Robert Bye 68.

Ladies’ section: July Medal – 1st Lynn Exley 75 nett; 2nd Janet Davis 79; 3rd Chris Bennett 80.

Seniors’ section: Match result – Gedney Hill 5 Sudbrook Moor 1 (Keith Cooper & Raffaele Ragosa won 5&3; Greg Walsh & John George won 3&2; Mick Page & Keith Lawrence won 4&3; Bob Townsend & Richard Senior lost 1 down; Neil Sargeant & John Venters won 2 up; Merv Davies & Bill Sharpe won 3&1).
