The Tulipmania Prince and Princess are riding round in style thanks to Spalding’s Gibbons Cycles.
Prince Joseph Porter, a pupil at Swineshead St Mary’s Primary School, and Princess Georgie Van Dyke, who goes to Sutton St James Primary School, went along to the Winsover Road store to choose their bikes which are part of their winner’s package.
Joseph and Georgie won their prizes in a keenly contested competition held on the first morning of the Tulipmania Festival at Springfields Events Centre on May 3.
Fourteen other children vied for the titles but Joseph and Georgie wowed the judges to take the titles.
It is hoped that the Prince and Princess competition can be run on an annual basis and perhaps the winners can cover other local events over the Spring Bank Holiday and possibly throughout the year.
Joseph and Georgie were overwhelmed at the variety of bikes on display at Gibbons Cycles and can now both look forward to long hours of summer fun riding their new bikes.
The pair also both received a large, framed photograph, courtesy of the Spalding and South Holland Voice, which was taken on the day by picture editor Nikki Griffin.
