Forum in Spalding as part of Volunteers’ Week

Representatives from organisations that involve volunteers are invited to join together in Volunteers’ Week to share best practice and tips.

The South Holland Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum, led by Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS), is for anyone who supports or manages volunteers or is involved in local community organisations and projects.

Heidi Haxeltine, LCVS area officer for South Holland, said: “Volunteers are vital to the work we do, but seem to becoming harder to find and retain.
“In this forum we will look at the changing face of volunteering and ask ‘are we adapting?’

“People nowadays have so many commitments – older people are increasingly caring for grandchildren, parents juggle childcare or looking after relatives and work. People are still as interested to help and get involved in their communities as ever but we face a bigger challenge to ensure we create roles that are flexible and appealing.
“Things like, creating micro-volunteering roles where individuals can help with specific one off tasks in ways to fit in with them.”

The forum is being held on Thursday, June 1, 2pm to 5pm in Willows Room at Tonic Health, 6 Broadgate House, Westlode Street, Spalding, PE11 2AF.
Book a place via www.lincolnshirecvs.org.uk

Volunteers’ Week runs from June 1 to 7 and is the annual campaign to thank volunteers and celebrate the difference they make.
To mark the week, LCVS is keen to hear about volunteers who make a difference via Facebook and Twitter @LincolnshireCVS or email [email protected]
