More acts for the second Spalding Beer and Music Festival have been revealed.
The event at the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding from Friday, May 26 to Sunday, May 28 will be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the town’s Barbeque 67 event.
Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Cream played at the long-gone Tulip Bulb Auction Hall on May 29, 1967. Three other bands which appeared – Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band, Sounds Force 5 and Zoot Money – are booked to play the Saturday night of the beerfest.
Meanwhile, Friday night’s acts include Zebra and Sarah O’Brien and her band Miss O’Brien’s Boys.
The Ultraviolet and The Moll Grips are among Saturday’s line-up and Sunday’s bands include The Manipulators and Special Groove.
Beer and music festival organising committee member Mark Le Sage said: “We’re really pleased and excited about the music line-up we’ve been able to put together.
“We’re thrilled about having three of the acts from Barbeque 67 playing at our beerfest to mark the 50th anniversary. It went down as a big moment in Spalding’s history and we hope many of the people who remember it will take the chance to relive a bit of it in May.”
The beerfest is jointly organised by Spalding and District Round Table and Spalding and District Ladies’ Circle.
Improvements to the site set-up this year, including using Castle Field for family attractions.
Joint headline sponsors for the event are MJL Skips, Sign Design Services and Blast Off! Services (Spalding). Other main sponsors are SLR Outlets, Moore Thompson, Fairfield Landscapes, Steadfast Training and Duncan and Toplis.
More than 100 real ales and ciders will be available. Businesses are being encouraged to support the event with one of two levels of sponsorship of a beer barrel, £100 and £150.
Tickets for the event go on sale mid-April. See www.spaldingroundtable.co.uk or Facebook page Spalding Beer and Music Festival for more.
Last year’s event saw 4,000 visitors across the three days. More than £15,000 profit was made, which was distributed to more than 30 youth organisations, clubs and groups in South Holland.
