Amber flood warning issued for parts of South Holland

Parts of South Holland are being urged to be prepared for the possibility of some flooding on Friday.(January 13)

The forecasted high water is at 6.30am and areas including Pinchbeck and Surfleet could be at risk. An amber flood warning has been issued, meaning householders should be prepared.

The Environment Agency said just before 9am today (Thursday): “Stormy conditions are forecast, resulting in a large tidal surge moving down the Lincolnshire coast on Friday morning.

“This will lead to unusually high water levels in the Wash and tidal rivers. The high tides combined with strong winds are likely to result in waves overtopping the flood defences and wind-blown spray, causing localised flooding.

“We are currently monitoring the situation and will issue flood warnings as required later today.”

The Environment Agency’s flood map at 5.30pm on Thursday.
