New boss Seb Hayes felt Holbeach United ticked all of the boxes he was looking for on Saturday as they cruised to victory in his first game in charge on Saturday.

Tommy Treacher fired the Tigers ahead on 37 minutes, moments after his strike partner Josh Ford had rattled the bar with another effort.

Winger Aaron Eyett added number two, before Spencer Tinkler’s 50th-minute strike essentially put the game to bed for the visitors.

However, Holbeach saved the best for last with Ollie Pinner lashing home a left-footed volley to ensure a perfect start for new chief Hayes.

“It was a very good performance,” said the ex-Peterborough Northern Star chief. “I couldn’t really have asked for any more.

“To score four goals and keep a clean sheet is exactly what I had hoped for – and ticked all of the boxes as far as I’m concerned.

“I knew before I came here that the squad was very strong, but injuries have hampered the team’s progress.

“Once we get those players back, I’m expecting us to have a very strong second half to the season.

“There’s no real reason why we can’t compete on all fronts and second place in the league is still very much up for grabs.”

New signing Callum Madigan, who has rejoined the Tigers from Deeping Rangers, played 45 minutes for Holbeach and Hayes was pleased with his impact.

The victory leaves the Tigers in fifth place, seven points off second-placed Eynbesbury Rovers.

Tigers: Drury, Walton, Shepherd, Tinkler, N Jackson, Muldrew, Pinner, Smith, Eyett, Ford, Treacher. Subs (all used): Davies, Dougill, Madigan.
