Prince’s Trust gives backing to new venture for Lorena

A new venture aimed at getting youngsters into work has been launched with the backing of The Prince’s Trust.
Little Local Jobs is an online recruitment resource which has been set up by Lorena Zalyte, from Spalding.
Lorena received funding from The Prince’s Trust and has also completed a project on social enterprise at Boston College.
And she is now encouraging both jobseekers, aged from 14 to 21, and would-be employers to get in touch – no matter how big or small the role might be.
She explained: “My idea is aimed at 14 to 21-year-olds who can help the local community and also put a few extra pounds in their pocket.
“We’re targeting a range of people who are struggling with anything – whether it’s taking the rubbish out, stacking shelves or cleaning windows.
“We want to get the youngsters busy and also give them something good to put on their CV.”
Lorena’s family proved to be the inspiration for her new initiative.
Both her brother and sister started off doing odd-jobs before going on to land good office jobs.
She continued: “My brother and sister both started work very young, whether it was cleaning or working part-time in a fish and chip shop, but they have now gone on and got good jobs in offices.
“That encouraged me. We grew up with a single parent and it helped fulfil our needs by getting little jobs.
“It’s a chance to help people which can be very rewarding.
“I have a young family so I probably wouldn’t be in a position every day to take the dogs out for instance so it would be good to give someone some money for doing that.
“I know people who struggle to find someone to look after their cats when they want to go on holiday.
“It might only be a small job, but little jobs can sometimes lead to something permanent.”
Anyone wishing to submit a post – whether it’s part-time, full-time, voluntary, day jobs or even hourly – can contact Lorena via the Facebook page www.facebook.com/littlelocaljobs
The project will also have a website – www.littlelocaljobs.co.uk – which is being launched on October 1. All submissions will be checked before being uploaded.
