Youngsters can keep boredom at bay during the school summer holidays with the help of South Holland District Council’s popular Summer Fun brochure.
Each year the brochure lists the wide range of leisure and cultural opportunities for children, young people and families in South Holland over the summer break.
The 2016 edition has been distributed to every school child in the district and is now available for free from South Holland District Council’s offices, the South Holland Centre, Ayscoughfee Hall and libraries and sports venues.
Produced by South Holland District Council’s community development team, the brochure lists activities taking place between now and September 4.
Activities include arts and crafts, badminton, bug hunts, horse riding, gymnastics, swimming, table tennis, and much more.
Youngsters can also enjoy the popular Activate! events which are returning to South Holland in August.
The free events give those aged eight to 19 the chance to try a range of activities including arts and crafts, rowing machine sessions and wall climbing.
The events take place between 11am and 3pm on the following dates:
August 10 – Pinchbeck Community Hub and Library (in partnership with Pinchbeck Parish Council)
August 17 – the Snowden Field in Crowland
August 24 – Memorial Park in Sutton Bridge
August 31 – Carter’s Park in Holbeach
Artistic youngsters are invited to take part in this year’s South Holland Artsathlon contest.
Launched in 2012 and inspired by the London Olympics, the Artsathlon gives everyone a chance to win a medal by taking part in arts activities over the summer.
Bronze, silver and gold medals are up for grabs in the activities which are listed in the Summer Fun brochure.
Participants complete a log book which is submitted to the council’s community development team at the end of the summer, with medals being presented at a ceremony in October.
